"One sabbath when he went to dine at the house of a ruler who belonged to the Pharisees, they were watching him". Luke 14:1
Yet another instance of Jesus eating and eating with the high and mighty. A preferential option for the poor and powerless doesn't mean neglect of the rich and powerful.

Reading for the Day
"In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles" Luke 6: 12-13.
I just noticed the phrase: and all night he continued in prayer to God. And then I thought: maybe he was up all night because he was having difficulty choosing his twelve apostles from among all his disciples so he asked his father for some advce.
